I must share the news on Veniero’s Strawberry Shortcake!! It has been an annual request from my Son & Daughter on their birthdays. Guests love it too.
I also enjoy their cannolis & mini tarts.
I just love Veniero’s!

Hi Amy - You’re right, some of their desserts may be better than others. I think the cheesecake is one of their specialties. On their menu it says it was voted one of “New York’s Best”, but since almost every bakery in New York says that I decided to try something new on my visit. I’d like to read about your friend’s experience at Veniero’s - which blog is it?

A friend just blogged about his great first time to Veniero’s, I think he had the cheesecake? Anyways, places like these I doubt can make all of their products delicious, you know it’s definetly a quality over quantity thing. Next time you might have better luck if you find out what their specialty is.

Ouch, yeah, I’ve never understood the lines Veniero’s gets. DiRoberti’s, on First Ave just around the corner, has a great old-world charm to it and I think their stuff tastes better, too. Granted the selection’s not as vast, but when you’re in the mood for a simple Italian cookie they suit me just fine.

Aw, sorry you didn’t like your desserts that much. My favorites are the fruit tarts and cheesecake. Any of the mini pastries (they’re the size of petit fours) are good.
