Moonstruck Chocolate has adorable, hand crafted chocolates in all shapes and sizes. Their “Cream Cones” won an Outstanding New Product award from the National Association of Specialty Food Trade in 1995, and 10 years later I am still impressed. These bite sized cones come in various flavors like Cookies and Cream, Peanut Butter, Razzleberry and Vanilla Bean and are as cute as can be. In addition to cones, Moonstruck Chocolate makes a “Critter” collection, which include bunny, mouse, dog and cat shaped truffles. Standard Moonstruck Chocolates are also extraordinary, and have been served in the White House and selected as the exclusive chocolate of the 77th Annual Academy Awards.
With all the awards and attention, this Portland based company has not forgotten its roots. During my visit to a Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe in Portland, Oregon the friendly staff, Elizabeth and Jeremy, were proud of their store and eagerly explained the variety of chocolates available. As I was making my final decision, several regular customers came in, chatted with the staff and purchased coffee and Cream Cones to go. I followed the locals’ lead and can confirm that the Cream Cones are a fine choice, although there may not be a wrong one in this gourmet chocolate shop.

Moonstruck is one of my favorites. The Extra Bittersweet truffle brings me to tears. Oddly, I wasn’t that thrilled with the Cream Cones. Hm. Maybe I should try them again.
Did someone mention “extra bittersweet truffles”? Trust me, the ONLY GOOD CHOCOLATE; is MILK CHOCOLATE!!!!! And I consider myself a conneseur. Did you knoww that you could actually lose weight by eating chocolate? And it has been proven that daily consumption of chocolate along with “Botox” injections puts women in a better mood and them feel good about themselves.
