i just went there today, after I saw Wicked. We headed over to the village and got dessert before we headed out to dinner. Definately the right choice!!! The cookies were delicious! I made sugar based with cappachino chips! Yummy!

I was very disappointed with Milk and Cookies. It is an insult to cookies and baking. Try Claude in The Village.

My roommate and I love this bakery, especially because it's clean, the treats are tasty, and mom would be so proud to know that I now drink a whole glass of milk at least every other day! We've been regulars since it opened and a lot has changed. The Sunday night girls are always so nice to us and sometimes gives us free coffee with our order if things get hectic. That is great customer service that you can't find in the Burg or EVillage. It's the best new thing in the West Village.

Hi,

Were it not for the logo, I would think that you had stumbled into the wrong shop!

In short, you missed the mark…from the wall color and clientele to the quality and variety of the cookies…Even your pictures are unrepresentative and unflattering.

The clientele is as diverse as the West Village…20’s, 30’s, professionals, families, artists...I find that it varies by day and hour.

When you return, you might want to take some pictures of the bench and flowers outside the door.

Cookies and sweet lovers...If you like the smell of cookies baking in the oven…warm cookies…made with only the highest quality chocolate, butter, fruits, and nuts…a tall glass of ice-cold milk…hot coffee, tea,…brownies and ice cream...you’ll agree with the buzz...Milk & Cookies is a welcome and unique addition to the West Village!

Hi Jason and Aleta -- I'm glad you both had good experiences at Milk & Cookies. I wish the best for the bakery and will have to give it another try. They have a great concept and I would love to have a custom batch of cookies made. As for the color of the wall, I included a picture of the shop in the post, so I hope that gives everyone an accurate sense of the interior.

I found Milk & Cookies Extremely Enjoyable and quaint. I am a little disappointed to see such a negative sounding review on this place. To be so knew and to have so many customers I think the bakery is doing a great job. First of all, teh interior description is not all that accurate. I did visit this bakeshop, and the atmosphere is charming...the walls are not coral but are a cranberry red. The staff is knowledgable and friendly, and even during peak times you are able to get design your own cookies. I was able to order them and the staff was quick and accomodating even with lines out the door. The Milk is fresh the cookies are fresh out of the oven and are AMAZING!

Interesting how retro bake shops (Magnolia, Billy's Bakery) have a niche in fancy NY. I think they do well because NYers are stressed and like to revert back to their childhood. The trick certainly works for me: lately I've been drinking lots of chocolate milk and gingerly licking ice cream on cones. It's so satisfying to enjoy simple things.

However, I don't think the retro shops have a lot to offer besides atmosphere. I can make better things in my kitchen.

Even if the cookies aren't amazing, I HAVE TO GO THERE! OH GOD WHY..I mean, I love your blog. :) Today my friend was terribly craving cookies so I'm sure she won't object to me dragging her to a cookie shop. I'm on a mission to try as many chocolate chip cookies as I can (if they look good, that is; only problem is that they all look good) so if I go I can say it's for test purposes. *cough*
