At LovinSullivan, a cake design studio in New York City, Kate Sullivan brings new life to custom designed cakes. All of her cakes have an amazingly bright, cheery look that reflects just how much love she puts into each design. Examples of cakes she has made in the past include the “Ella Fant,” a miniature elephant made of marzipan on top of a colorful ball, and the “Liberace,” a model of a Norwich Terrier on top of striped fondant pillow.
Visitors can see sample cakes on display at the studio by appointment only, and orders must be placed a few weeks in advance (preferably one month.) Custom cakes run a minimum of $250 for a standard cake and $400 for a tiered cake. If you don’t have the budget to have Kate assemble the cake for you, you can try creating your own at home using her new book Kate’s Cake Decorating: Techniques and Tips For Fun and Fancy Cakes Baked With Love
