Cookie Sutra

A cookie's first kiss

Cookie Sutra takes gingerbread men (and women) out of the kitchen and into the bedroom. Created by an advertising executive with a clear “passion” for cookies, Cookie Sutra places sweet little cookies in compromising positions. It starts out innocently enough, with cookies bathing, grooming and perfuming themselves to perfection. After the cookies have made themselves look irresistible, they quickly move on to positions that would make Sting blush. The book depicts everything from the First Posture (”which, like milk-and-cookies, is a classic that’s tough to beat”) to the after glow (”since every cookie needs time to cool down.”) After 50+ pages of cute analogies, funny pictures and completely inappropriate descriptions, we finally get the secret gingerbread recipe for love.

The innocent language and design of the book is really well done, but be warned that it often becomes explicit and goes a little too far. It’s a unique gift for your free-spirited, cookie-loving friends, but definitely not for everyone.

This is an intriguing idea, but a little too catchy for me. It reminds me of a very funny ne book, “Bitter With Baggage Seeks Same.” Little fake chicks are the characters but the text is all grown up and very New Yorkese sharp sarcastic queeny humour.

Kelli, sorry I missed you in NY. Polka Dot was on vacation for my second stint there.

I saw Bitter with Baggage at the book store and thought it was so cute I carried it around planning to buy it, but then I realized at the last minute that it was one of those things I didn’t need to spend my money on at all! I guess these kinds of books are best for gifts or browsing through in the store. They are both cute ideas.

Polka Dot reopens this Monday, August 22 — if you’re back in town stop by! Sorry I missed you.
