We used the W&S mulling spices this weekend and we also added rum to our cider. Definitely tasty. But I would also like to try making my own spices since I have some really nice whole cloves. Does anyone have a good recipe?

Hmm, what do you look like?

Actually, I had some hot apple cider today (my office had tons of cookies, drinks and carolers to celebrate the holiday season) and thought the same thing. Didn't taste so good.

My favorite place to get spices is Sahadi's in Brooklyn. I bought 2 oz. of freshly ground cinnamoon for $1! Much better than McCormick's.

How funny! I wonder if we have ever walked right by eachother without knowing it.

I was thinking of making my own too which is why I haven't broken down and bought any yet. I did try a hot caramel apple-cider (on special at gourmet garage) yesterday and it was just so boring without those extra spices.

My goodness, we do lead parallel lives! I was just at Williams & Sonoma on Sat. and had the mulling spices, as well as the hot chocolate and espresso. They were good, but I figured I could make them at home for much cheaper.
