Happy new year everyone! I was happy to ring in 2007 with my first ever nomination for a Food Blog Award. Thank you to everyone who nominated us, although I must admit I was surprised by the category. Lovescool is up for Best Chef Food Blog, but I hardly consider myself a chef. Yes, I love to bake, but my skills can’t compete with the well rounded chefs in the category. As the voting stands now, Aiden Brooks (a real chef-in-training, who cooks with things like vegetables) and I are tied (for last place) at 4%.
I love the food blog awards because it helps me find new blogs that have popped up over the year, and remind me of old favorites that I haven’t caught up on in awhile. One I was happy to see again is The Amateur Gourmet, who is up for a best post award. I thought his comic strip version of his experience at Alain Ducasse was seriously funny.
Next year I hope to see a category dedicated to dessert, but maybe my narrow focus on dessert is unusual. I actually don’t consider myself a foodie, since my interests and knowledge revolve around all things sweet. Perhaps it’s better this way, since I can still enjoy a good dinner without overanalyzing it and wondering how to recreate it at home (which is unavoidable during dessert).
This nomination is a nice anniversary present for Lovescool. January 2007 marks the two year anniversary of this site. Over the last two years writing for this blog has helped me transition from a computer nerd to bakery owner, and has been a great way to share the knowledge I have gained along the way. I hope to post a wrap-up of 2006 soon, as it was quite a big year for Lovescool and Amai. Thank you to all Lovescool readers for your support along the way, and congratulations to all other food blog award nominees out there.

Lovescool definitely has my vote!
Congrats! You got my vote. Happy New Year!!!
I found your blog among the nominees for the food blog awards. Congratulations and best wishes for a very good 2007.
Congratulations on your nomination!
You got my vote as well. Just got my Amai products the other day - they look absolutely gorgeous! I’ve yet to try them; we just finished a round of Restaurant Week, and I had one too many creme brulees
. But I was tempted to eat a brownie for breakfast this morning…
